THE WIZARDS WIN 2ND PLACE ON VIVEPORT DEVELOPER AWARDS

Not too long ago, Vive announced the nominees for Viveport Developer Award, which celebrates the best of VR games and applications. Ten nominees divided into five categories were selected from a pool of over 250 participants. During GDC 2018, The Wizards was revealed as the 2nd place winner in the Entertainment category, with the first prize awarded to The Gallery – Episode 2: Heart of the Emberstone.

THE WIZARDS FULL RELEASE

After seven months in Early Access, the game has evolved into its final form, with a complete story arc, three regions, six spells with new, powerful upgrades, an array of Fate Cards, and three infinte battle challenges in Arena Mode. THE WIZARDS NOMINATED FOR VIVEPORT DEVELOPER AWARD

We are delighted and humbled to announce that The Wizards was nominated in the second edition of Viveport Developer Awards in the Entertainment category. The awards celebrate the best and most innovative applications for virtual reality, and other nominees include Gallery – Episode 2, OVERVIEW, Gravity Sketch VR, and BattleSky VR. THE WIZARDS UPDATE: ARENA MODE

The Wizards keeps expanding and improving as the Early Access period continues, and we are proud to announce that a whole new game mode was introduced in the latest game update. We added two new levels that invite players to face off with endless hordes of enemies while completing either of two primary objectives: one map tasks you with defending three magic stones, while the other requires that you destroy coalescing crystals before too many of them can appear. The new mode features a new, separate hub, unique Fate Cards, and a progression system independent of that in the story campaign. Players can compete and compare scores on a global online scoreboard. GAMEINN PROJECT GRANT

We are proud to share Carbon Studio’s latest achievement: we have won a grant in this year’s GameINN edition for a research project about innovative methods of interaction and navigation in VR. We would like to extend our thanks to the National Centre for Research and Development for the distinction, and to congratulate all authors of other chosen projects.  

THE WIZARDS ON POZNAŃ GAME ARENA

This year, we visited the Poznań Game Arena with our current production, The Wizards. During the open days, visitors to the expo could come to our booth and try the game, and we gathered some valuable feedback from their impressions. Additionally, members of our team took part in panels and seminars, including “Is VR the smart move NOW?” during which VR’s impact and presence in the game industry was discussed.

THE WIZARDS FREE MOVEMENT UPDATE

Throughout The Wizards’ early days, one of the most prevalent criticisms of the game focused on the node-based teleportation scheme as limiting and immersion-breaking. In response, we spent the following weeks on developing a free teleportation and free movement system, and rebuilding the existing levels to accomodate the new modes and reward exploration. On Tuesday, September 12th, the update containing the new modes and gameplay tweaks, as well as bug fixes and item pickups was released to warm reception from users.

THE WIZARDS AWARDED ON RESPAWN

Our VR spellcasting game The Wizards has yet again gained recognition in the industry during the Indie Prize event in Cologne. The event was part of Indie Game Expo RESPAWN during devcom 2017, a game developer event held concurrently with gamescom. Carbon Studio was awarded a full access pass to Casual Connect Europe 2018 in London for two people.

THE WIZARDS EARLY ACCESS RELEASE

After months of hard work, we are releasing The Wizards on Steam and Oculus Store with story mode, six upgradeable spells, and two regions with four levels each. The game is in Early Access, as we plan to gather player feedback and improve the game experience based on players’ impressions and suggestions, as well as introduce new spell upgrades, mechanics, enemies, and regions.
