Between November 12 and 14, 2018, Carbon Studio took part in Casual Connect Asia in Shenzhen, China. The event was aimed at European and Asian audiences. China is currently the largest gaming market in the world, in particular for mobile gaming. The Chinese VR market is still young, therefore it is crucial for VR companies wanting to expand their potential target audiences to establish a presence there. Around 1,200 game developers and 150 experts participated in the event. The events are also worthwhile due to the lectures on technology, during which the speakers present the latest inventions and their applications, which significantly strengthens the competitiveness of participants. As a result of close cooperation between Carbon Studio and Xiaomi, the Studio’s newest game, The Wizards - Trials of Meliora, became part of the starter package of Xiaomi VR goggles, called “Mi VR Super Player Edition”. Each purchase of the Xiaomi VR starter pack (available for sale starting November 2018) grants access to a curated selection of the best games and experiences available for the Mi VR headset. On October 26 and 27, Carbon Studio participated in Oculus Connect in San Jose, California. The fifth edition of Oculus Connect is a conference organized by Facebook. It gives creators and producers a unique opportunity to familiarize themselves with the latest trends in the VR industry. The event is directed exclusively at people working with Oculus headsets. On 20-21 September 2018, Carbon Studio took part in the Tokyo Games Show - one of the most important events similar in nature to the European Gamescom trade fair, but focused primarily on Asian markets. In 2018, a record-breaking 300,000 people visited the expo. This shows the high market potential and the scale of the event. The event consists of closed-access business days as well as open days for the general public. Our primary goal in attending was to establish new business relationships so that we could successfully sell our titles in Asian markets. Between 11 and 14 October, members of the Carbon Studio team attended the Poznań Game Arena expo and Game Industry Conference taking place concurrently. We gained new skills, established contacts, and had the privilege of inviting PGA attendees into the world of Meliora on PlayStation VR. Our booth attracted many curious visitors, and we would like to thank Epic Games for helping make it happen by offering us a place in the Unreal Engine area of the expo .
On August 22 and 23, Carbon Studio participated in the largest industry exhibition in Europe - Gamescom. A record number of visitors attended the 2018 edition of the trade fair. According to the gamescom.global portal, almost 370,000 people participated in the event, including over 31 thousand trade visitors from 106 countries and over 1,000 exhibitors from 56 countries. Gamescom 2018 also featured 28 national pavilions from 25 countries. The importance of the event is also evidenced by the visit of the German Minister for Digitization, Dorothee Bär, the Mayor of Cologne, Henriette Reker, and José Guirao Cabrera, Minister of Culture and Sport of Spain, the partner country of the fair. Ever since the full release of the game on March 8th, our team has been hard at work to bring The Wizards to PlayStation VR. As the project nears completion, we are excited to announce that players will be able to try it out on Gamescom 2018. Our booth will be located in the Polish Pavillion in Hall 4.1. On the 28th of July, Carbon Studio celebrates the first anniversary of the Early Access release of The Wizards. On this occasion, we are excited to add a content patch to the game, as well as announce a -50% sale that will be in effect until August 2nd. We are proud to announce the release of The Wizards: Trials of Meliora on Oculus Go and Gear VR. Trials is a standalone title based on Carbon Studio’s acclaimed PCVR title The Wizards, optimized for mobile headsets. Trials of Meliora features a unique gesture-based magic system and exciting magical battles in three different locations, with two more coming soon.
